Toyota offers ten hybrids, two plug-in hybrids, and one battery electric vehicle. The automaker has announced that, over the next nine years, it will invest more than $70 billion in electrified vehicles, with $35 billion earmarked for BEVs. By 2025, it is expected that approximately 70 electrified models will be available worldwide. Toyota aims to sell 3.5 million EVs annually by 2030, when it will have 30 EV models. Expect the Prius to bridge this period more stylishly than we could have envisaged.

The Toyota bZ4X is the first vehicle to incorporate Toyota’s new bZ (beyond Zero) naming scheme. Chief engineer Koji Toyoshima explains, “This is not only about contributing to the environment by being a zero-emission vehicle, but also about providing value ‘beyond Zero’ emissions by making driving simpler and more enjoyable.”

Additionally, Toyota bZ models will contribute to the aim of carbon neutrality. This refers to approaches and initiatives aimed at neutralizing CO2 emissions throughout the entire lifecycle of a vehicle, including manufacturing, distribution, use, recycling, and disposal.

This approach considers not only the energy the car uses to travel, but also how it can utilize regenerative or renewable energy, like solar power.

Safety, peace of mind, and a pleasurable driving experience are provided by a BEV designed on a dedicated platform with the latest technological features and outstanding connectivity.

Toyota’s journey to attain zero emissions began more than two decades ago with the introduction of the original Prius, the world’s first mass-produced hybrid electric vehicle. The new Toyota bZ4X is the latest step in this journey. Since then, Toyota has consistently pushed the limits of vehicle electrification, increasing the efficiency of its hybrid technology and creating new opportunities with the development of plug-in hybrid electric.
